Our Purpose
The purpose of the Vidalia Woman's Club is community service through volunteerism while providing members the opportunity for personal growth and development of leadership skills through participation in club projects and social activities.
The Vidalia Woman’s Club was founded and federated in 1921 by a group of young women who wanted to make a difference in Vidalia and the local area.
This Club is a member of the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs which in turn belongs to the General Federation of Women's Clubs.
Some examples of our participation and support in the local community are as follows: the Veteran Day luncheon, yearly support for four to five scholarships and help in other scholastic areas when needed, support for our local library (75% of all libraries in the U.S. were started by Women’s Clubs), support of the Woman's Refuge Domestic Violence Shelter, and Tallulah Falls School which was started and is supported by Women’s Clubs throughout Georgia. Our International Department supports various missions.
Our club is open by invitation to women eighteen years of age and older who want to make a difference in the Vidalia and the surrounding area. Clubwomen are encouraged to volunteer in all projects. We are looking for new and different service ideas for all of our committees.
There is something for everyone who becomes a member of the Woman’s Club. We have interest in increasing activities in each of these areas and encourage members to volunteer in all 6 departments and participate in the many projects.
Our largest money making venture is the Vidalia Onion Arts and Crafts Festival each spring. We also researched and compiled a Vidalia Onion Award Winning Recipes cookbook that is a 'must have' for any kitchen! We now are in our 2nd Edition due to popular demand!
